About the Project
The scope of this complex project included re-engineering a custom data warehousing solution into a commercial application that could be hosted and provided as a service.
Business Analysis
Achieving our goals to buid a hosted data warehousing solution required an environment to reduce costs and resources in order to give small school systems the ability to utilize an enterprise class decision support system. In depth systems analysis of the custom application was required to create a feasable design for hosting. Design specifications and implementation planing was required to faciliate the modifications to the core functionality of the custom solution to allow it to be shared for any number of school systems using a single operating environment. Business process and support procedures were also identified after the completion of the project to transition to operational support.
Application Development
The solution required the use of advanced features in Oracle (FGA, Advanced Security Policies, Partitioning) and Crystal Enterprise (Crystal Repository, Processing Extensions); In addition to custom services developed using Perl and Java. .
